If you’re looking for beautiful, dramatic scenery and a chance to relax away from the hustle and bustle of city life, then a Point Reyes elopement is for you! There are so many different parts of Point Reyes to explore (over 100 square miles) and so much variety that you’ll always find a new corner to enjoy.
Read MoreThe day after their elopement, I met up with A + C for their wedding portraits back where their ceremony had been — this perfect slice of the Utah desert just outside of Zion National Park. Since A + C didn’t want to miss out celebrating their wedding day with their families, we decided a day-after portrait session would be perfect for them. I especially love day-after wedding portraits when you have guests because it gives you one on one time with your partner without feeling like you’ve left your friends and family behind.

The best thing about winter portraits in Zion:
Far fewer crowds. We had this popular overlook all to ourselves!
Convenience of driving your car to the trail head; shuttles are only required in peak visitor months.
Magical snow! Not only is snow beautiful to look at, especially when dusted over these epic rocks, it provides perfect, soft, and even lighting for photos. A photographer’s dream!
There are few places more appealing than the California coast when it comes to picking a portrait location. Local to the Bay Area, N + W wanted to celebrate their first year of marriage with an anniversary session somewhere beautiful and Slide Ranch quickly became our top location choice! (Seriously, I could photograph couples here all the time!)
We started off by the goat pen because, duh, cute goats, but also check out this amazing wall of white flowers!!
Read MoreI may be playing favorites with Slide Ranch — it’s on a beautiful stretch of coast in Marin dotted with wildflowers, there are baby goats and other adorable farm animals, it’s a non-profit whose goal is to educate children about nature, oh and it’s STUNNING. If you go in early spring, there are baby goats right as you walk in. I repeat: BABY GOATS. Just look how cute they are, ahhh!

The coastline is especially dramatic, though some parts, like the Ka’napali Coast, can be challenging to access. E + R were in Kauai for their destination wedding (see post here) and we thought, “well, why not do some portraits since we’re here??” While scouting for their beach ceremony, I came across the Maha’ulepu Heritage Trail (a popular spot for cliff jumping!) and the petrified sand dunes along the trail. Needless to say, I was blown away by what I saw and couldn’t wait to photograph E + R with such an awesome background, and just a short walk from Shipwreck’s Beach where they were getting married! We started off in the jungle by Old Koloa Town and then headed to the cliffs for sunset. Being there at golden hour was a truly magical experience.

We had just missed some rain which gave us a unique opportunity to take advantage of this gorgeous reflective pool of water (above). The sun was firmly kept at by our friend Karl, but the moody ambience inspired C + K to hold each other close and stay snuggly — perfect for a winter engagement session.
