Golden Gate Park Wedding

Wedding couple in Golden Gate Park

A + E got married in beautiful Golden Gate Park which is just down the street from me! We lucked out with the weather and got a gorgeous sunny day — no visit from Karl the Fog, even though we were right by the beach! Golden Gate Park is a true gem, over a thousand acres of lush greenery in the middle of San Francisco. There are so many hidden corners to explore and together with A + E, we found some truly magical spots.

After their sweet first look, it was off to the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden for their ceremony. With the flowers in full bloom and the windmill standing stately in the background, the epic scene was set! (Also, I don’t think I could be any more obsessed with A’s flower crown by Farmgirl Flowers! For more flower crown magic, check out L + W’s picnic wedding in the redwoods!)

One thing I love about weddings is how couples choose to incorporate different traditions. A + E included their families in a traditional tea ceremony and it was so sweet. If you haven’t seen a wedding tea ceremony before, the concept is the couple serves their elders tea and in return their families give them advice and gifts. It’s a beautiful tradition and I’m so glad they included their families in this way.

After the tea ceremony, A + E exchanged vows and rings. One important takeaway I learned from their ceremony is you just have to roll with it if things don’t go exactly to plan. It was a struggle to get E’s ring on his finger (super common occurrence by the way, especially on a warm day!) and I love E’s reaction: he had fun with it, had a big smile on his face, and turned something which could have been stressful into a great moment.

Once the ceremony concluded, their friends and family headed to dinner and we took advantage of the beautiful light for some more portraits. Just steps away from the ceremony site we were transported into a magical woodland forest.
